I’m pretty sure it’s both an ancient Egyptian and modern Islamic rite as for it’s practiced in other Muslim countries..

By the way, this isn’t JUST Egyptian, African countries such as Somalia still preform the practice as well. Some go further, to cut away the lips, inner and out labia as well as to sew her vaginal opening to be as small as a straw. In those extreme instances, the woman has a 40% increase in birth mortality rates.
This is disgusting and they need to do much more to stop this crime.

Why don’t you take away the men’s ability to get aroused? Why shouldn’t the men be expected to cover. This is insanity. How could anyone want to hurt their children like this? How could anyone think this is ok by any means? It’s disgusting and a crime against human rights.

@evita565 These and some other practices are condemned in Islam and told not to do, but those who deny it are well aware of consequences in hereafter and the responsibility is only with the doers, not with those who give the warnings.
You must have read the book “why am I not a Muslim?” at school. Read something from a Muslim scholar, if you want to know the truth your government is hiding from you.

@evita565 Please, give us rest. This has nothing to do with Islam. It is a cultural thing. Islam does not allow it. You probably take the fact that people are hard to give up their traditions for granted. This is not easy as it may seem. They respect such non-Islamic practices out of the respect for the ancestors and they can’t ignore the public opinion who takes it serious.
If Islam was a blood thirsty religion, there would be no such a things left. It actually demonstrates tolerance in Islam.

@MirageScience yeah, but the difference is that males can still achieve an orgasm (easily) and these women wont. I would hardly call it mutilation as its done for hygiene purposes, unlike these cases where its done to stop the woman from feeling anything sexual because the men in the culture feel threatened when a woman is comfortable with sex.
